Emma is a DONA-trained Labor Doula and a MaternityWise-trained Postpartum Doula. She is currently in nursing school at NYU and will begin training to become a certified nurse midwife and family nurse practitioner in the fall of 2011. She wanted to be involved with birthing women as soon as she could, so she trained as a Doula in 2009.
Before deciding to become a nurse, Emma spent several years overseas working on maternal and newborn public health projects. She came to strongly believe that it is every woman’s right to have a safe birth in the setting she desires and the right to make autonomous, informed choices about the birth to the fullest extent possible.
In addition to having attended a number of births around the world, Emma has spent significant time working in the labor and delivery unit of one of Manhattan’s major hospitals and is familiar with many other New York hospitals. She has also attended homebirths.
Emma attends births in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx and is available for births through November.

Her fee for Labor Doula services is $750.
Her fee for Postpartum Doula services is $18/hour with a minimum booking of three 8 hour days. Emma is available for overnight Postpartum bookings for an additional overnight fee of $50 per night.
Emma is available for Labor Doula and Postpartum Doula bookings starting from mid September 2010.
